North Pole Delivery
Welcome back stampers. I was inspired by a picture I unfortunately cannot show you that's inside the 2017 Holiday Catalog. Well not for another week and a few days. The picture was a bunch of gift boxes made with our DSP but I was interested in the one on the bottom. Isn't that always the way. Ha.
I had this idea to figure out a way to have the new embellishments called, Green Sprigs to look like they were snowed on. My first thought was to roll them around in the VersaMark ink pad and cover in White Stampin' Emboss Powder. Well that wasn't going to work because they are plastic and if I used the heat tool the needles were going to melt. So I had to think of another idea. Total light bulb moment! EMBOSSING PASTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Once it dries it will stay attached to the needles. Now to find a way to not get it everywhere. Especially on me. I'm going to try my best to explain how I was able to get this accomplished without making a mess. Yeah me! WINK.
I took two green sprigs and dipped one into the embossing paste jar. A small amount of paste was attached to the top part and found that dipping the sprigs wasn't going to come out to the look I was going for. I put a sprig in each hand and started to spread the paste from the one onto the other. It looked like I was clapping with each spring (like a cheerleader with pom poms) until the needles each had a bit of white paste on them. I continued to do this for each sprig. Now my problem was to find a way to dry them without having to hang onto them for a bit. Stampin' Up! pencil sharpener to the rescue! There were two holes to rest the sprigs in while I prepped the cards. What do you think? Loving this idea? I am! SMILING WIDE OVER HERE!
I had taken traditional Christmas colors to become the base of the card which was going to be perfect to match with the black and white DSP. I chose Cherry Cobbler and Garden Green because of the ribbons we had available in those colors.
I am aware these cards are not able to be mailed because of the snow covered sprigs. So these can be hand delivered or you can even create gift tags with the same supplies.
