Have you wondered how the Heirloom Frames Dies & 3D Embossing Folders work? Well I will explain what I did to get the look on this next card. I had a customer ask me how they worked and I just had to do some testing before I could answer them honestly. From the first time I saw them in the catalog, I assumed they would work either way. Cut then emboss or emboss and then cut. So which way do you think worked? I mean I did try it both ways, so technically it works, Maybe it will depend on the look/style you are searching for; that will determine how you use the products.
My recommendation to get the 3D effect on your frame would be to cut the die first for your shape and then place on the embossing folder. Had you emboss and then cut, the 3D pattern gets smooshed in the die cutting process. Though maybe you like that style and wish to use it. Try it out and see what you like. I hope I didn’t lose you in the explanation.
I am playing along with Stampin’ Through the Catalog and this time is using the Butterfly Wishes stamp set. I had previously CASED the catalog and changed up the sentiment. Check out that blog post HERE.
There is a lot of white on white going on but I like it. You can barely see it but the Stitched Lace in the background but in person it looks great. I promise. The Layering Ovals fit perfectly inside the Heirloom Frame. I had used the scalloped oval to add some more decoration. Having the lace, the three dimension frame and then the scallop edging, though seems like a lot to the eye, I feel it simple yet elegant. The Shimmer Black embossing powder adds so much shimmer/sparkle/shine on silhouette images. Though this butterfly is a distinctive image, you wouldn’t tell by the way I used it today.
There are all those glittery speckles.
